- Keep it plugged into your laptop when setting up (no need to plug it into the car until all setup)
- Use the same USB serial port each time and record which one you used (e.g. right side of laptop)
- In Device Manager, scroll down to the ports section and locate USB serial port, then right click -> Properties -> Advanced and make sure it’s using the following settings:
- COM1
- Receive: 4096
- Transmit: 4096
- Latency Timer: 1
- Read Timeout: 0
- Write Timeout: 0
- Ensure that only the “Serial Enumerator checkbox is ticked”
- Selective Suspend Idle Timeout: 5
- Then click OK
- Bits Per Second: 9600
- Data Bits: 1
- Parity: None
- Stop bits: 1
- Flow control: None
- Then click OK
- Unplug the USB cable and plug it in again. View the settings and make sure they haven’t changed from the above.
- Connect the cable to the vehicle then run C:\EC-APPS\INPA\bin\INPALOAD.exe
- Press the Start/Stop button once (don’t start the engine by holding it down)
- The dashboard should light up with the usual icons
- If you see two solid black dots on the INPALOAD.exe screen, then the connection is successful
- Find the long VIN number in the engine bay and enter it into https://www.vindecoderz.com/ to find your engine number
