{"id":13,"date":"2021-03-20T01:21:16","date_gmt":"2021-03-20T01:21:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.surfnz.com\/blog\/?p=13"},"modified":"2021-03-20T01:57:28","modified_gmt":"2021-03-20T01:57:28","slug":"bmw-kdcan-usb-cable-basics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/surfnz.com\/blog\/bmw-kdcan-usb-cable-basics\/","title":{"rendered":"BMW K+DCAN USB Cable Basics"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Keep it plugged into your laptop when setting up (no need to plug it into the car until all setup)<\/li><li>Use the same USB serial port each time and record which one you used (e.g. right side of laptop)<\/li><li>In Device Manager, scroll down to the ports section and locate USB serial port, then right click -> Properties -> Advanced and make sure it&#8217;s using the following settings:<\/li><li>COM1<\/li><li>Receive: 4096<\/li><li>Transmit: 4096<\/li><li>Latency Timer: 1<\/li><li>Read Timeout: 0<\/li><li>Write Timeout: 0<\/li><li>Ensure that only the &#8220;Serial Enumerator checkbox is ticked&#8221;<\/li><li>Selective Suspend Idle Timeout: 5<\/li><li>Then click OK<\/li><li>Bits Per Second: 9600<\/li><li>Data Bits: 1<\/li><li>Parity: None<\/li><li>Stop bits: 1<\/li><li>Flow control: None<\/li><li>Then click OK<\/li><li>Unplug the USB cable and plug it in again.
